A Short Brief of BPS

Organization Background:

Introduction:

BPS is a non-government, non-political and non-profit philanthropic organization. BPS started its operation in 2004 through extending help to the flood victims, later it redesigned its strategies and programs with missions of alleviating poverty and protecting child rights.


Vision:

Rights of the disadvantaged people are established and ensured sustainable development.


Aims and Objectives:


• To reduce poverty by promoting greater community development.

• To empower women by different program.

• To create awareness among the people about social issues like HIV/AIDS prevention, environment advocacy, good governance, human and child rights etc.

• To provide counseling and guidance to the prospective children, adolescents and youngsters for building their career towards their potentials.

Agriculture Development:

Disaster Management Project:

• Training for all disaster mitigation committee members.  

• Awareness rising on disaster preparedness among community through rally, workshop and seminar. 

• Emergency response and rehabilitation after disaster.

Management Structure of the Organization:

BPS has developed and organized a structured management system, which is not bureaucratic. The organogram shows the relations and accountability both vertically and horizontally.

  

General Committee: 

General Committee is the highest body of BPS and consists with 21 members. The Committee meets once a year. But if necessary, it can launch emergency meeting. The member of the General Committee will pay regular monthly subscription; actively take part in each meeting of General Committee and different social work. The General Committee will form the Executive Committee, Advisory Committee and will approve annual budget.


 Advisory Committee: 

Advisory Committee consists of 10 members. The committee formed with intelligent, social worker and honorable persons. The responsibility of the Advisory Committee is to advice General Committee and Executive Committee, to provide proper guideline to the General Committee and Executive Committee and to assist Executive Director in his/her work.

  

Executive Committee (EC): 

The members of the General Body elect 9-member Executive Committee for the period of three years. The EC sits once in a quarter to look after the activities of the organization and take necessary decisions. The Committee is responsible for overall management of total program/project implemented by the organization. The responsibility of the Committee are to create income sources and maintain accounts, budget preparation, bank account operation, participate in bi-monthly and special meeting, deposit and fixed assets and liquid assets.

  

Executive Office:

The Executive Committee appoints Executive Director as an executive head of the organization. Executive Director will implement all decisions of the Executive Committee. He/She is responsible for overall administration and program implementation. He/she is assisted by her sub-ordinate staff to discharge his/her duties. He/She is responsible for keeping contact with the government and non-government agencies and donors. The Executive Director is accountable to the Executive Committee.

Establishing a maternity home Hygiene and sanitation programme.

Relief and medicine distribution among the distressed people.

Free health service for the children & elderly people.

Winter garments distribution.

Providing the financial help to arrange marriages of the poor people.

Interest free loan scheme.

Providing the volunteer services in any social activities.

HIV/AIDS awareness programme of all classes and occupations.

Women Empowerment and women rights achieving programme. 

Library management (with the help of KCCC).

Free effective coaching for the the poor but talented students (with the help of KCCC).

Financial grant for the poor but talented 

Social Movement against dowry and divorce.

Social Movement against child marriage and polygamy traditions.
